CPD Continuing Professional Development
SASLI has an expectation that its members will engage in the process of maintaining and developing knowledge and competence through a program of Continuing Professional Development (CPD). This allows for individual development needs and supports an environment of self reflection where members act on their commitment to raising standards in the profession of BSL/English interpreting.
The CPD program will run over a period of 3 years and allows a RMSASLI to renew their ID card and thus continue to work as a professional interpreter in Scotland.
The Continuing Professional Development program consists of three elements:
Training
Members will be required to attend and/or deliver a minimum of 18 hours of training over the Continuing Professional Development cycle (of which 8 hours should focus on issues of language or issues directly relevant to the interpreting process)
Peer Reflection
Members will be required to undertake peer reflection on a minimum of 6 occasions over the CPD cycle. A minimum of 2 of these occasions should be reflection on observed practice.
Self Directed Learning
Members will maintain a diary/log to reflect upon their practice, training and learning. This should amount to a minimum of 30 hours over the CPD cycle.
